On Sunday, October 13, Pakistan released their squad for the upcoming 2nd Test against England at the Multan Stadium on October 15. A few tough calls were made as former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was dropped from the side following his poor run with the bat.

Babar is on course to register his worst calendar year with the bat as the former skipper has amassed just 148 runs in four matches this year, averaging 18.50. He is also struggling to score a fifty, as he last scored one in December 2022.

Following the decision to oust Babar from the squad, the internet went into a frenzy as the fans and several cricket pundits slammed the decision. Meanwhile, Fakhar Zaman took to Twitter to extend his support to Babar by comparing his slump with Virat, who also struggled for runs from 2019-2022.

Zaman tweeted that India backed Virat in his poor form while Pakistan have dropped their star player. His tweet has not gone well with the PCB and has started a discussion online, where the fans are divided over PCB's move.

Brad Hogg Backs PCB's Decision To Drop Babar Azam

In the latest events, Australia's World Cup-winning bowler Brad Hogg justified Pakistan's decision to drop Babar and remarked that harsh choices are necessary in cricket.

"Comparing bad form between Babar Azam & Kohli after rumours the Pakistan legend will be dropped for the 2nd test v England is baseless. India: 2nd best win % during Kohli's draught. Pakistan: 2nd worst win % through Babar's. Hard decisions need to be made!" he Tweeted.
