In the aftermath of India’s narrow loss to Australia in the Women's T20 World Cup, head coach Amol Muzumdar expressed optimism and sent his best wishes to Pakistan ahead of their critical match against New Zealand on Monday (October 14). India’s hopes for a semi-final berth now hinge on Pakistan’s performance, as a New Zealand loss would keep India’s tournament dreams alive.

Speaking at a press conference following India’s defeat on Sunday(October 13), Muzumdar was asked about India’s situation and the impact of the upcoming Pakistan-New Zealand clash.

"That's a good question ... well, I just want to wish Pakistan all the best. That's all I can say. But we will be watching the game very closely, that's for sure." said Muzumdar.

Amol Muzumdar Shares His Views On India's Loss To Australia

India’s defeat to Australia was bitter, as they fell just short of the target by nine runs after a spirited chase. Despite some impressive performances, India’s fielding mistakes proved costly, with a few dropped catches. However, he emphasised the importance of focusing on the bigger picture rather than pinpointing individual mistakes.

He also mentioned that he is hopeful about India’s prospects, underscoring that this match was a learning experience for the players. Muzumdar highlighted the importance of resilience, expressing optimism that the team’s hard work would eventually pay off.

"At this moment in time, I wouldn't like to pinpoint the 14th or 16th over. It's a collective effort. We're in it all together. We said at the start of the game that whatever happens, this group is a special group. We care for each other. I am sure that in the days to come, you will find the results going in our way. I wouldn't like to pinpoint those overs or those dropped catches. It happens in a game. We just want to learn from this experience and disappointment," said Muzumdar.

India’s loss to Australia has left them on the edge of elimination, but with Pakistan’s upcoming game against New Zealand, they still retain a fighting chance. It is important to mention that, if Pakistan can pull off a win, India could yet make it to the semi-finals.
