In a significant development, Australia have dealt a heavy blow ahead of their crucial tie against India in the women's T20 World Cup 2024 as their skipper Alyssa Healy arrived at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on crutches.

It is worth noting that Healy suffered a foot injury during her side's match against Pakistan women, where she had to retire hurt while taking a double in the second innings of the match.

Shedding light on skipper Healy's injury, she was batting well on 37 (23), which is when she pulled her hamstring in search of a double. After being troubled by the pain, Healy decided to retire hurt. Following her injury, she underwent scans as Cricket Australia gave an update about her injury after the Pakistan game.

"Alyssa sustained an acute right foot injury while running between wickets. Once we have more information based on her assessment and scans tomorrow, her availability for the remainder of the tournament will be clearer," a release by Cricket Australia had stated after the Pakistan game.

Double Blow For Australia Women

Other than Healy, Australian seamer, Tayla Vlaeminck , who suffered a dislocated shoulder against Pakistan, will miss the remainder of Women's T20 World Cup.  In the latest events, Australia have replaced her with Heather Graham.

It is worth noting that it was the third time that Tayla dislocated her shoulder. Unfortunately, she injured herself in the first over of the match.

Do-Do-Die Match For India

At the moment, Australia can afford to play a match with their skipper on the bench as the Women in Yellow are sitting on top of the group with three wins in three matches. However, it is a crucial match for India on October 13 as they would eye for a win to keep a foot in the semi-finals. A defeat would result in a Harmanpreet Kaur-led side depending on other results.
