On 29th of June, 2024, India clinched their second T20 World Cup title under the inspired leadership of Rohit Sharma in Barbados. They beat South Africa by just seven runs, and it was Hardik Pandya who emerged as a hero with two important wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller. He bowled the final over of the match as well and it was a stunning redemption for the all-rounder who was criticised by almost everyone in the IPL.

The reason behind his criticism in IPL was his appointment as the captain of Mumbai Indians in place of Rohit Sharma. The move did not go well with the fans because they considered it as a betrayal by Hardik Pandya and it was assumed that not all was well between the all-rounder and Rohit Sharma. Hardik was going through a lot both on and off the field and all his emotions finally came out after India managed to clinch the final.

Rohit Sharma's Gesture Puts Rumours To Bed

After the win, the all-rounder was straightaway in tears and during a quick interview spilled out all the emotions he was going through in the last few months. Rohit Sharma too was quite emotional at that time and while Hardik was talking to the interviewer, Rohit kissed Hardik Pandya and hugged him, showing the world how much both of them love each other.

It was quite a heartwarming gesture from the Indian captain and it set aside all the rumours of fight going around on social media. Talking about that final, Hardik Pandya bowled three overs for 20 runs and picked three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah also bowled brilliantly for India. On the batting front, Virat Kohli top-scored with 76 off 59 balls while Axar Patel also scored a crucial fifty to take India to a competitive total which proved just enough to end India's ICC trophy drought.
