In the latest development, Shan Masood has become the first captain in the Test cricket's history to start his captaincy tenure with six consecutive Test defeats. Pakistan's most recent loss, a humiliating innings and 47-run defeat to England in Multan, marked the lowest point in Masood's short captaincy stint.

His leadership has been marred by a series of crushing losses. Pakistan, under his captaincy, suffered three Test defeats to Australia, two shocking defeats at home against Bangladesh, and now, England has delivered another blow by taking the first Test match in Multan in a decisive fashion.

Shan Masood Creates Unwanted Record

Shan Masood’s tenure began on a hopeful note last year, with fans and analysts optimistic about the strategic vision he might bring to the team. However, the reality has been far from promising.

This string of losses has not only placed Masood under intense scrutiny but also carved a new unwanted record in the annals of Test cricket history. He is now the only captain to have started his career with six straight Test losses, surpassing the previous record of five losses held by former Zimbabwe captain Tatenda Taibu.

Pakistan's Embarrassing Loss Against England

In the latest Multan Test, Pakistan's fight faltered on the final day. After posting an impressive 504 runs in the first innings, they were bowled out for 220 in the second innings, despite some resistance from Salman Ali Agha and Aamer Jamal.

The defeat marked another dubious record for Pakistan, as they became the first team in Test history to lose by an innings after scoring over 500 runs in their first innings.

Following this unprecedented slump, several reports suggest that the PCB is planning to replace Shan Masood as captain. According to a source close to the PCB, three players have been shortlisted as potential successors middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, and all-rounder Salman Ali Agha.

The board is expected to make a decision soon, as Pakistan looks to regain its footing and rebuild its Test team. For Masood, this may signal the end of a challenging stint as captain.
