Pakistan cricket is currently going through a turmoil and are finding it difficult to end their losing run. They were knocked out in the group stage of T20 World Cup and then were whitewashed by Bangladesh in the two-match Test series at home. They were expected to do better against England, but they have again crumbled to a humiliating loss on a flat deck in Multan and have continued their disastrous home record since 2022 where they have not won a single Test match.

Since 2022, Pakistan have played 11 Test matches at home and have lost seven of those while the four games have been drawn. In this period, Pakistan have played played four Tests against England at home and have lost all of them. They have played three Tests against Australia and have lost one. Two Tests against New Zealand at home have not produced results while against Bangladesh they lost both the Test matches in their home conditions.

Shan Masood's Losing Streak As Captain Continues

It is quite a startling record for a team like Pakistan which is considered as a major force in world cricket and speaks a lot about the decline of cricket in the country. Pakistan have also lost all six matches under their current skipper Shan Masood and his captaincy seems to be in real threat after loss in the opening Test against Multan.

It was a flat wicket at the Multan Cricket Stadium and Pakistan batted well in the first innings to out 556 on the board. In reply, England smashed 823 runs in their first innings with Harry Brook scoring a triple century and Root hitting his sixth double ton. The match was heading towards a draw, but Pakistan batters faltered big time in the second innings and were cleaned up on just 220 as England registered a thumping win by an innings and 47 runs.
