The 2024 edition of Emerging Asia Cup is all set to start on October 18 and with a competition now open for all age-group, some of the star Indian cricketers might play the tournament. However, they will have to miss some Ranji Trophy games which is scheduled to start on 11th of October and it could affect their teams and tournament as a whole.

According to Times of India, a source has revealed that the players like Ayush Badoni, Harshit Rana, Tilak Varma and Sai Kishore might play for India A in the tournament, and it has opened the speculations that other big players who have played for senior Indian side might play the competition as well.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

The stylish right-handed batter has been named as the captain of Maharashtra for Ranji Trophy 2024. However, he has led India in the Asian Games in the past and was also captain of Rest of India in the Irani Cup 2024. So, he is a player who has been promoted as a skipper by BCCI, and they might make him the captain of India A for Emerging Asia Cup. He has also been quite successful for India in T20Is, and BCCI could well give him a chance to lead India A in a prestigious tournament like Emerging Asia Cup and showcase his skills both as a captain and as a batter.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer was once a regular in the Indian T20I side, but has not been able to find a place in the shortest format in the recent times. However, he still remains a quality player who has scored runs both at the international level and in IPL and selectors might give him a chance in Emerging Asia Cup to prove a point. He has been named in the Mumbai Squad for initial two games, so he might be withdrawn from the Mumbai squad and could add more depth and experience in the India A's squad in the Emerging Asia Cup.

Ishan Kishan

The southpaw took a break from international cricket after India tour of South Africa in early 2024 and has not played international game since November 2023. He is available for selection now, but selectors want him to play more domestic cricket before his international return and Emerging Asia Cup could be a perfect platform for him given his quality in the shortest format.

The 26-year-old though has been named as the captain of Jharkhand and he would have to miss the action if he gets selected for Emerging Asia Cup. It would be a big loss for Jharkhand, but given the importance of Ishan Kishan in the T20 format for India, selectors might include him in the Emerging Asia Cup squad.

Tilak Varma

The left-handed young batter has been named as the captain of Hyderabad for the upcoming Ranji Season. However, he is also among the core group of players who are likely to play T20Is for India in future, and so selectors might include him in the Emerging Asia Cup as well. It is also a good opportunity for the MI batter to showcase his talent and stake a claim for a permanent spot in the Indian T20I side and so he is likely to be another star player who will miss some matches of Ranji Trophy due to its clash with Emerging Asia Cup.
