Shan Masood's tenure as captain of Pakistan's Test team has been nothing short of a disaster as they have lost all the six matches played under him. There were demands of removing him as captain after Pakistan were whitewashed by Bangladesh, but PCB displayed trust on his leadership for the all-important England series.

However, now after a humiliating loss against England in the Multan Test, Qadir Khawaja, a reporter of Samaa TV has revealed that PCB is set to remove Shan Masood as captain after the England series. According to the reporter, Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha are in line to take over the leadership from Masood and the selection committee is set to meet on Friday to take some important decisions.

Confusion In Pakistan Cricket

There has been lot of chopping and changing in Pakistan cricket in the last couple of years. Babar Azam was removed as captain after the disastrous World Cup 2023 campaign and PCB opted for split captaincy. Masood was made the captain of the Test side and he started his tenure with tour of Australia. Pakistan lost all the matches in that series and on the other hand, musical chairs game in white-ball format captaincy also created confusion in Pakistan cricket.

Recently, Babar Azam stepped down as white-ball formats captain after Pakistan's early exit from T20 World Cup 2024 and with Shan Masood also not producing desired results, he is likely to face the axe.

However, it remains to be seen what decision PCB takes if Pakistan go onto win the next two matches against England. The next Test will be played at the same venue, Multan Cricket Stadium and will start on 15th of October while the final Test will be played in Rawalpindi.
