There is no stopping Joe Root and England at the moment. The English batter produced yet another stellar performance in the ongoing Multan Test match and scored a breath-taking unbeaten double century to put England in the driving seat.

On Thursday, he scored his 6th Test double century, and alongside another double centurion, Harry Brook, took the game away from the Pakistan side. Root, 33, matched Sachin Tendulkar's record of scoring six double tons in Test cricket, and he continues to march on towards his first-ever triple century.

Moreover, on Wednesday, during his marathon knock, Root surpassed former teammate, Alastair Cook and became the leading run-getter in England Test history. Root now sits at the fifth position in the most runs scored in Test cricket, and chases another Tendulkar record, who has slammed the most runs in Test history.

During his marathon knock, Root also attained a stunning feat - becoming only the third batter after Virender Sehwag and Mahela Jayawardene to score double hundreds in India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.

Decoding Root's double tons in Asian conditions

Root's first double ton in Asian conditions came during the Galle Test Vs Sri Lanka in 2021. It was Root's first double ton in Asian conditions as England captain and his knock helped England win the match and the series.

The second of the memorable knock came up against a strong Indian side in Chennai in 2021. It was during Root's purple patch as he dismantled the Indian attack in the first Test of the series and sprung a surprise to beat the Indian side as he scored 218.

Now, in the Multan Test, Root has broken another record and is getting closer to the 300-run mark, another phenomenal record on the cards.
