Mayank Yadav, India’s latest pace sensation, has been making headlines ever since he stormed into the T20I scene. In his two matches against Bangladesh, Mayank consistently hit the 149 kmph mark but couldn’t quite breach 150. While this caught the attention of fans, it also became a point of commentary during the game.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Tamim Iqbal took note of this during a broadcast, cheekily commenting, 

“Mayank hasn’t touched 150 in this series.” However, Murali Kartik, the former Indian cricketer and fellow commentator, swiftly shot back, "Neither has Bangladesh,” humorously defending the young pacer.

Earlier in the year, Mayank Yadav’s rapid pace had wowed everyone during the IPL, where he bowled as fast as 156.7 kmph. He was a standout player for the Lucknow Super Giants, winning two Player of the Match awards back-to-back. However, an unfortunate injury cut his IPL season short, and he was forced to sit out the rest of the tournament.

After months of rehabilitation, Mayank finally made his much-anticipated international debut during the T20I series against Bangladesh. Handed his debut cap in Gwalior, he delivered a stunning maiden over and even picked up his first international wicket, dismissing Mahmudullah. His performance further cemented his place as a rising star in India’s bowling attack.

In his debut match in Gwalior, Mayank etched his name in the record books by equaling Ajit Agarkar’s 18-year-old record. He became only the second Indian bowler to start his T20I career with a maiden over, a rare achievement that speaks volumes about his potential.

In the second T20I in Delhi, Mayank once again proved his mettle, bowling his fastest delivery at 149.9 KMPH. Though he hasn’t yet hit 150, his pace continues to excite fans.
