Australian fast bowler Scott Boland reacted to India's surprising collapse in the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru, noting how unusual it was to witness India being bowled out cheaply on home soil. Moreover, witnessing India's struggles in overcast conditions, Boland is hopeful of recreating something similar in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar trophy.

Team India's preparations for the upcoming five-game Border-Gavaskar Test series against Australia kicked off on the wrong foot as they completely surrendered against New Zealand in the first Test held at Bengaluru. Under extreme overcast conditions, Rohit Sharma opted to bat first and paid the price as his team got bowled out for 46 runs, recording the lowest total at home in Test history.

Scott Boland warns India ahead of Border-Gavaskar series!

Naturally, reactions from the cricket fraternity were wild, seeing a dominant side like India stoop to this low on home soil. Australian pacer Scott Boland, who watched the entire proceedings at the MCG cafe, also expressed astonishment talking to Perth Now. He remarked that it seemed like the Indian batters just nicked everything and praised New Zealand's bowlers for their discipline and fielders for taking some exceptional catches.

"I was just watching it before in the (MCG cafe). It looked like they just nicked everything, and (New Zealand) took some awesome catches. It’s a bit different to see India get bowled out like that in India. I think with the class in our bowling attack, if there’s a little bit in the wicket, they’ll find it and put their batters under the pump," Boland told reporters.

Moreover, with the Border-Gavaskar trophy just around the corner, Boland opined that if a wicket in Australia produces some help for the bowlers, Australia's class bowling lineup will definitely overpower India.

India slipped further in the Bengaluru Test with Rachin's ton

To add to India's first-inning misery, Rachin Ravindra scored a blazing hundred on Day 3 to put New Zealand in the driver's seat. In the first session, India picked up quick wickets before Rachin and Tim Southee stitched a 100+ runs partnership for the 8th wicket. With New Zealand's lead over 350 runs, India's defeat is more or less inevitable.
