After a bitter Day 2, the following day started on a good note for India as Mohammed Siraj picked up the wicket of Daryl Mitchell in the morning session, breaking the brewing partnership between him and Rachin Ravindra in the ongoing first Test against New Zealand at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. However, this has increased India's hunger to pick up more wickets sooner.

Daryl Mitchell departed after scoring 18 runs off 49. The right-handed batter could not escape Siraj and the hands of Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who held on to a brilliant catch.

Siraj-Jaiswal Get A Breakthrough

In the 57th over, Siraj bowled a 135.9 kmph, back-of-a-length delivery outside off. The Kiwi batter looked to punch it off the back foot, but he got an outside edge, and the ball flew to the gully. Jaiswal, standing tall with his firm hands, held onto the catch even though it may have hurt his palm hard while grabbing onto it. With this, India drew first blood early on Day 2.

After making that catch, Jaiswal was seen walking off the field to get treatment on his hand, which looked in pain. However, he did a very good job of not spilling the catch and pulling through the pain.

India's Troubles Increase

After Day 1 was called due to rain, the second day went entirely against the favour of Rohit Sharma and Co, who failed to get beyond 46, and thus registered their lowest total in Tests ever at home. Six batters, including Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan and KL Rahul, departed for ducks, and eventually, the Indian batting line-up collapsed like dominoes.

As expected, New Zealand started off strong with explosive batting from Devon Conway. It was Kuldeep Yadav who got the first breakthrough, sending Tom Latham back for just 15 runs. Eventually, India managed to pick up more wickets on Day 2, with Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin each picking up one wicket before the conclusion of the day. At the time of writing, New Zealand is leading by 187 runs.
