Big Blow For India: BCCI Confirms Rishabh Pant's Unavailability Before Day 3

India is currently playing New Zealand in the first Test of a three match Test series at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. After the first day of the game was washed out, India were dominated by the visitors on Day 2. 

After being bundled out for just 46 runs, India have already conceded a huge lead to the visitors. While the game is not going in favour of India, an injury to one of their main batters, Rishabh Pant added to their concern during the day's play. 

How did Rishabh Pant get injured?

The injury occurred to Pant during the 37th over of the New Zealand innings. Ravindra Jadeja was bowling the over and was looking to build on the pressure created by the wicket of Will Young. 

In this over, Jadeja beat Devon Conway with sharp turner. The ball pitched outside the off stump and turned into the batter. Conway was looking to play an expansive drive but got the ball went past his inside edge. Unfortunately it hit Pant in an unprotected area on his knee roll. Pant looked in severe pain and had to limp out of the ground. 

Pant's unavailability on Day 3

Pant was injured off Jadeja's bowling and looked in severe pain. The wicketkeeper-batter had to walk out of the field in order to get treated. In what comes as a big news, Pant will not be able to keep wickets on Day 3. As posted by BCCI on their X (formerly Twitter) handle, the medical team is looking after his injury. 

Rishabh Pant's injury will be something that will keep the Indian management and fans thinking. Besides his keeping Pant adds great depth and flexibility to the Indian batting order. The medical team will be looking to make him fit and ready to go before India bat in the second innings.
