The St. Lucia Kings won their maiden CPL title as they defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final of the CPL 2024. The match was being played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

This was their third final in the history of the tournament. Dethroning the Warriors, the Faf du Plessis-led side lifted the trophy.

Noor Ahmad set ip the game for the Kings

The Kings won the toss and opted to field first. The Warriors struggled throughout their innings, struggling to get off the blocks. Noor Ahmad, the Afghan spinner, was the pick of the bowlers for the Kings. He picked up three wickets for 19 runs in his four overs. His spell played a major role in restricting the Warriors to 138/8 at the end of the 20 overs.

The chase was not going as planned for the Kings. They lost a few early wickets and struggled to keep up with the scoring rate. Roston Chase and Aaron Jones got together at the fall of the fourth wicket and gradually guided the team towards the target.

Aaron Jones played a crucial role in the chase

Aaron Jones played a sparkling knock of 48 runs from 31 deliveries and played a major role in the chase. His knock was decorated with two fours and four maximums. After the match, Darren Sammy was heard saying that Jones promised him that he would win the CPL final for him. With the important knock, Jones delivered as he promised to his coach.

Notably, St. Lucia Kings were formidable throughout the season. They lost only three games in their championship run. Aaron Jones was not in the best of form throughout the season; however, he revived his World Cup form in the most important match and guided his team to the win.
