The St Lucia Kings and the Guyana Amazon Warriors played in the grand finale of the CPL 2024 at Providence Stadium in Guyana.

The Kings won the toss ahead of the game and opted to field first. The Warriors did not have a great start to their innings as they lost Rahmanullah Gurbaz early. Even though. Moeen Ali and Shai Hope tried stabilising things for the team, but they could not score runs at a reasonable rate.

Noora Ahmad ran through the middle order of the Warriors

As the partnership between Ali and Hope broke, the Warriors' innings started to fall apart. Moeen Ali's wicket turned out to be crucial for the Kings, as they took full control of the innings with the ball. This important wicket was picked up by Noor Ahmad.

The Afghan spinner did not stop there. He followed it up with the wicket of Shimron Hetmyer. The Southpaw has been the man in form for the Warriors. In this tournament, Hetmyer had scored 402 runs in 13 matches at an average of 40.20 and a strike rate of 185.25. If Hetmyer had lasted too long at the crease, he could have changed the match's complexion. Noor Ahmad dismissed him at a personal score of 11 from 9 deliveries and did not let the momentum slip for the Kings.

The Afghan left-arm wrist spinner followed this up with another wicket of Raymon Reifer. Noor Ahmad ended his spell with three wickets for 19 runs from his four overs. Ahmad's spell put the Kings completely in charge of the game. His efforts ensured that the Warriors were restricted to a modest total of 138/8 at the end of the 20 overs.

Chase and Jones led the chase for the Kings

The Kings struggled in the chase and were left reeling at 51/4 by the 10th over of the innings. However, after this, Roston Chase and Aaron Jones stitched together a partnership of unbeaten 88 runs and guided the Kings past the victory line with six wickets in hand and 11 balls remaining in the game; with that, the Kings won their maiden CPL title in their third final appearance.
