The CPL 2024 ended with the St. Lucia Kings crowned the champions for the first time. The Faf du Plessis-led side laid their hands on the coveted trophy at the third time of their asking.

The Kings faced off against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the summit clash of the tournament. Faf du Plessis won the toss ahead of the game and opted to field first. The Warriors lost Rahmanullah Gurbaz early and were in trouble. After this, Moeen Ali and Shai Hope tried to stabilise the innings for the team.

Noora Ahmad emerged as the star for the Kings

However, as the partnership between the two batters broke, the innings started to fall apart for the team. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and it never looked like they would reach a formidable total. The Afghan spinner, Noor Ahmad was the pick of the Kings' bowlers, picking up three wickets for 19 runs in his four overs.

During the Warriors' innings, the wicketkeeper of the St. Lucia Kings, Tim Seifert, made an unbelievable catch. Alzarri Joseph bowled a full-length delivery and used the off-cutter outside the off-stump. Keemo Paul tried heave the ball to the onside, but he got an outside edge that was flying away from the keeper. Tim Sefiert defied gravity to fly to his right and grab an astonishing catch. Paul could not believe the effort and was seen on his knees in disbelief.

St Lucia Kings won their first ever CPL title

Returning to the game, the Warriors did a great job of keeping the match under control for most of the game. However, after the fall of the fourth wicket, Roston Chase (39 off 22) and Aaron Jones (48 off 31) stitched together an unbeaten 88-run partnership. They guided the team to a six-wicket win with 11 balls remaining.
