Wasim Akram has given his take on Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton’s recent analysis over Pakistan cricket’s ongoing turmoil. The Pakistan team management recently dropped senior batter Babar Azam from the playing XI ahead of team’s all-important second Test match against England in Multan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the selection committee have also undergone several regime changes in the past couple of years. The Pakistan men’s cricket team is currently going through one of its toughest phases in recent memory, considering the ‘Men in Green’ suffered first-round exits in successive World Cups (2023 and 2024), and recently suffered a Test series defeat to Bangladesh at home.

As Shan Masood and co. aim to level their three-match series against England, former captain Wasim Akram cheekily agreed with Hussain and Atherton’s recent analysis of Pakistan cricket.

Wasim Akram says Nasser Hussain ‘on to something’

Former England players Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton blamed constant management changes within the Pakistan team for their recent all-format struggles. The two commentators took to Sky Sports and shared their extensive insights on Pakistan cricket.

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram seems to agree with the two Englishmen, as evidenced by his recent post on X. Taking to the microblogging site, Akram wrote:

“I think finally boys are on to something here.”

In the first Test against England last week, Pakistan crashed to an innings defeat by 47 runs despite charting 556 upfront. Bowlers ended up conceding 823-7d to the visitors in just 150 overs, with both Joe Root and Harry Brook shaping grand centuries.

In a seemingly kneejerk reaction, the team management subsequently dropped the likes of Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi for Pakistan’s second Test match against England. The match commenced on October 15 at the Multan Cricket Ground.
