Following their impressive 2-1 victory in the recently concluded T20I series, Sri Lanka has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies. Charith Asalanka has been named the captain of the Sri Lankan team, aiming to extend their winning momentum against the Caribbean side.

The ODI series will commence on October 20, 2024, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The same venue will host all three matches in the series, with the second ODI scheduled for October 23 and the third and final ODI slated for October 26.

Wickramasinghe and Nishan Madushka Included In The Squad

Sri Lanka, riding high on their T20I series triumph, will look to capitalize on their home advantage and further dominate the visitors in the 50-over format.

The most notable inclusion in Sri Lanka's squad is left-arm seamer Dilshan Madushanka, who returns after missing the recent India series due to injury concerns. In addition to Madushanka's return, the squad features two uncapped ODI players: Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Nishan Madushka.

Chamindu Wickramasinghe, known for his all-round capabilities, could provide options in both batting and bowling, while Nishan Madushka, brings a solid domestic record and could add flexibility to Sri Lanka's lineup.

The West Indies, on the other hand, will be eager to bounce back in the ODI series after narrowly losing the T20I leg of their tour. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, the Caribbean team struggled to maintain consistency and will need to improve their all-around performance to challenge the hosts in ODI.
