In a significant development, India have received a massive boost as star keeper-batter Rishabh Pant has resumed training and looks fine after he was carried off the field on day 2 of the first Test between India and New Zealand following a knee injury.

Notably, Pant was hit on the knee that he underwent surgery for after the fatal car accident while he was keeping wickets on day 2. Pant was unable to continue and limped off the field, eventually being replaced by Dhruv Jurel as a substitute fielder. In the latest events, Pant was spotted batting during the tea break on day 3.

Rohit Sharma Comments On Rishabh Pant

The fans were concerned after Rishabh limped off the field as India have important Border-Gavaskar Trophy coming up in November. There were doubt's over Pant's participation in this match as Rohit Sharma remarked that he has been hit on his knee cap and has swelling on his knee.

"Unfortunately, the ball hit straight on his knee cap, the same leg on which he has got a surgery done. So he has got a bit of swelling on it. It’s the same knee on which he got the surgery. And you know the muscles are quite tender at this point in time, so it's a precautionary measure. We don't want to take a risk. Rishabh doesn't want to take a risk because he has gone through a massive surgery on that particular leg. That was the reason for him to go inside. Hopefully, at night he can recover and we will see him back on the field tomorrow," Rohit had remarked.

Further, on October 18, BCCI updated the fans about Pant and stated that the DC skipper would not be taking field on day 3 of the ongoing first Test.
