India's promising batter Sai Sudharsan had a dream start to the second round of the Ranji Trophy, amassing a magnificent century in Tamil Nadu's ongoing encounter against Delhi at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Opening the batting for Tamil Nadu, Sudharsan struck a glorious hundred, ensuring his side's prolific outing in the match. 

After Delhi's captain Himmat Singh won the toss and opted to bowl first, Tamil Nadu had an outstanding start to their innings, with Sudharsan and Narayan Jagadeesan stitching a mammoth 168-run stand for the opening wicket. Both batters took some time to get their eyes in before capitalising on the run-scoring opportunities. 

Sudharsan, in particular, dominated the Delhi bowlers, hammering them all around the park. The southpaw brought up his ton in just 138 deliveries with a gorgeous cover drive off Navdeep Saini's bowling. 


From over the wicket, Saini bowled a full-length ball outside the off stump, inviting Sai Sudharsan for a drive. As there wasn't enough movement, the stylish left-handed batter caressed it through the covers for a beautiful boundary. As the ball raced to the fence, Sudharsan celebrated his sparkling century, receiving massive applause from his teammates. 

Sai Sudharsan's Century Encourages India Before Border-Gavaskar Trophy

According to emerging reports, Indian captain Rohit Sharma will likely miss the first Test against Australia for personal reasons. In such a scenario, Sudharsan's clinical Ranji Trophy performance has encouraged the Indian team, giving them an additional option to consider replacing Rohit. He has impressive numbers in First-Class cricket, registering some sublime batting performances in domestic competitions. 

Meanwhile, riding on Sudharsan's flamboyant ton, Tamil Nadu have raced to 242 for one, eyeing a mammoth first-innings score against Delhi in their backyard.
