Pakistan registered yet another unwanted record as they became the first team to lose by an innings after scoring more than 550-plus runs. On a flat Multan surface, Pakistan batted well to post 556, while batting first, but disaster struck when they came out to bat in their second innings.

It was a disaster class with the bat in second innings as the home side were bundled out for a mere 220, thus losing the match by an innings and 47 runs. Despite posting a healthy total on the board, England were rather confident as they came out all guns blazing and posted 823/7 on the board.

Joe Root scored a scintillating double century and Harry Brook smashed a brilliant triple ton as Pakistan bowlers looks helpless on a pitch that had nothing to offer for pace bowlers. England made a mockery of the Pakistan bowling and won the game from a position where the match was heading towards a draw.

After the embarrassing loss, Pakistan skipper Shan Masood gave a shocking statement and blamed the bowlers for the loss in Multan. He stated that bowlers failed to pick up 10-wickets and as a result, Pakistan lost the match.

"We've spoken about the third innings, but it's a team game, when you put 550 on the board it's important to back it up with 10 wickets, and that's what we didn't do. That's the key, how can the batting and bowling in first innings contribute to a lead. The onus is to set the game up well and finish it off. We should learn from England, they found ways to take 20 wickets. That's the challenge the side has going forward. We're in the middle of the series, we've talked about a squad mentality."

Pakistan continue unwanted home domination

In the Multan Test, Pakistan have broken several unwanted records, as they continue their unwanted home domination. Since 2022, Pakistan is the only team not to have won a single home Test match, thus having 0% win record.

They lost against Australia, followed by England, New Zealand, Bangladesh and now England. While other teams have showcased their home domination, Pakistan continue to pile on more pressure on themselves as they are yet to taste victory under Shan Masood's leadership.
