In a shocking collapse, India's batting lineup fell apart during the second day of the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru, as they were bowled out for just 46 runs, marking their lowest total in home Test history. Amid the frenzy, Ajinkya Rahane, who was not part of the playing squad, drew attention with a cryptic Instagram post.

After Day 1 was washed out due to heavy rain, India's first Test against New Zealand officially went on the floor on Day 2 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, what followed was an absolute nightmare for home fans.

Batting under overcast conditions, India struggled massively against New Zealand's pace attack led by Matt Henry, who grabbed a fifer, supported by William O'Rourke, who also got four wickets. Indian batters, meanwhile, were largely to be blamed for the embarrassing collapse as more than the bowler's accuracy, their own shot selection proved fatal.

With social media a buzz following India's unprecedented situation, Ajinkya Rahane, former Test captain desperate to make a comeback to the team, posted a cryptic video on social media. 

Just after India's dismal performance, Rahane posted a video of himself batting in the nets, captioned "Ready to Strike." This prompted speculation from fans, with many linking his post to India's collapse and interpreting it as a potential message to the BCCI and the Indian team management regarding his desire to make a comeback.

Notably, Rahane performed well in the recently concluded Irani Cup 2024 as under his leadership, team Mumbai attained its second mega domestic title after Ranji Trophy victory.

Michael Vaughan takes a dig at India's collapse

Team India was bowled out for just 46 runs in the first Test against New Zealand, marking their lowest total on home soil. This disappointing performance brought back memories of India's collapse against Australia during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where they were dismissed for just 36 in the Pink-ball Test.

Meanwhile, former England captain Michael Vaughan took the opportunity to troll the Indian team. Referring to India's Adelaide collapse, Vaughan sarcastically pointed out that India had at least managed to avoid breaking their lowest total of 36.
