The Barmy Army, the official fan group for the England cricket team, has stirred controversy among Rohit Sharma's fans with a recent social media post featuring Virat Kohli. Announcing the upcoming Test series between India and England in the summer of 2025, the post featured Kohli's image. However, many fans argued that the current Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, should be the focus instead of Kohli, leading to a heated exchange in the comments section.

India will be touring England in the summer of 2025 for an extensive bilateral tour featuring 5 T20Is, 3 ODIs, and 5 Tests. While the tour is still months away, Barmy Army has already started creating hype around the series by announcing the sale of tickets.

In an eye-catching social media post, a poster was shared featuring Virat Kohli with the caption, "Kohli's Coming! England vs India. Summer 2025. Five Tests. What more could you want?".

However, Rohit Sharma's fans were largely displeased with the poster as it omitted current Indian Test team captain Rohit Sharma. Comment section was flooded with 'Rohit vs Kohli' fan war messages.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Kohli's presence has overshadowed discussions about the current Indian team. Earlier this week, Fox Cricket faced backlash for highlighting Kohli in a promotional video for the Border-Gavaskar Series, leading Rohit Sharma's supporters to voice their displeasure over the perceived lack of recognition for their captain.

Rohit Sharma likely to miss the first phase of BGT 2024-25

Team India may face a significant challenge in their upcoming five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, as captain Rohit Sharma has indicated that he could miss at least one Test due to a personal matter. According to a report from PTI, Rohit has communicated his potential unavailability to the BCCI already. As for replacement, Jasprit Bumrah could lead India in Rohit's absence as he was recently announced as vice-captain in the Test format.
