Well, the last couple of days have been interesting for Sourav Ganguly. There were reports that he'll be removed as the Men's Director of Cricket at the Delhi Capitals, but now, the former India captain has leaped high and attained another high post at JSW Sports.

Ganguly has been appointed as the Director of Cricket at JSW Sports, the co-owner of the Delhi Capitals franchise. In a press release, JSW announced the decision as Ganguly begin his new venture.

In his new role, Ganguly will spearhead all the cricketing properties owned by the JSW Group, including Delhi Capitals - men's and women's and the Pretoria Capitals that play in the SA20 league in South Africa.

JSW Sports founder Parth Jindal and Ganguly have always shared a strong bond, and the appointment is an extension of their personal and professional relationship. Ganguly joined the DC team in 2019 as an advisor and shared a close relation with head coach, Ricky Ponting as the two took the team forward, as DC even reached the IPL finals in 2020.

The JSW founder, Parth Jindal was the one who initiated Ganguly's move in 2019, and was glad Ganguly became a part of his group as he'll take care of all the cricket related activities from now on.

I’ve said this in the past and it stands true even today – he is one of the sharpest brains in cricket and we will always stand to benefit from his guidance and wisdom of the sport. Ganguly, one of the shrewdest minds in cricketing world has plethora of experience at the high level. After his cricketing career got over, Ganguly worked as a commentator and then shifted his interest towards management and coaching.

Speaking on his new role, Ganguly said:

“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing the JSW Group and the Jindal family personally and professionally which made this an easy decision. JSW Sports has been doing visionary work across the board, and I am pleased to be able to lend my experience to all its cricketing projects.”

Ganguly will hope to flourish in his new role, as he did when he was a part of the DC dugout and nurtured several young stars who carved a name for themselves.
