Following India Women's group stage exit from the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup, Shreyanka Patil expressed her feelings about the team's performance and future aspirations. In her heartfelt note to fans, she acknowledged the disappointment of falling short of their goals but also stated that this setback only fuels their determination to improve.

India Women's cricket team, widely coined as the prime title-winning contender before the tournament began, crashed out of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup group stages following two ugly losses to New Zealand and Australia.

Both those defeats could have been avoided had the team produced a collective effort, stayed vigilant in the field and showed proper game awareness.

However, fate had other plans as India Women packed their bags to board a flight back home. Having said that, Indian spinner Shreyanka Patil took to social media to extend a heartfelt note to fans who were left disappointed with the team's performance.

Shreyanka Patil wrote a caption that stated the team's resilience in the face of adversity. She said that the early exit hurt but these setbacks will only make the team hungrier in hindsight.

"We fell short of what we set out to do. It hurts but also makes us more hungry! Really appreciate all your love, all your criticism and thank you all for being there! We will work harder, get better and come back stronger! The dream to win a World Cup for India remains," she wrote in caption.

She also expressed gratitude for the support and criticism from fans, thanking them for standing by the team during this challenging time. Patil also reaffirmed the team's commitment to working harder, learning from their experiences, and returning stronger in future competitions.

Harmanpreet Kaur likely to lose her captaincy

The early exit of the Indian women's cricket team from the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup has sparked discussion within the BCCI selection committee. Under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, the team faced a disappointing finish, ending third in Group A and missing out on the semi-finals for the first time in years.

Hence, as per reports, BCCI and selectors are gearing up for an important meeting, with the future of Harmanpreet as captain in question. While her place in the squad remains secure, her captaincy is reportedly under serious consideration for change.
