The speculations have turned out to be true as Mumbai Indians, the 5-time IPL winners have appointed World-Cup winner, Paras Mhambrey as their new bowling coach ahead of the IPL 2025 season.

The Mumbai Indians' coaching department has been strengthened with Mhambrey's appointment, and he'll work closely alongside current bowling coach, Lasith Malinga and newly appointed head coach, Mahela Jayawardene.

This is not the first time Mhambrey will work with the Mumbai Indians coaching setup. He was previously associated with the side during their initial success when MI won the IPL in 2013 and the Champions League T20 titles in 2011, and 2013.

Recently, he was a part of the Indian coaching setup and worked as the bowling coach. Under his guidance, the fast-bowling unit continued to excel and he played a key role in India’s triumph at the T20 World Cup.

He is a tactically sound coach and will bring in wealth of experience as Mumbai Indians look to win their 6th IPL title.

Mhambrey was a right-arm pacer and has also represented the Indian team, making his debut in 1996. He has also won multiple titles with Mumbai in the domestic setup and will be responsible for nurturing the young talents scouted by the Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians’ dilemma continues

Mumbai Indians have many talents, but ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, they must release a couple of them. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered - who will lead MI in IPL 2025? Will Rohit Sharma stay at Mumbai Indians?

The last few years have not been the best for the franchise. After 10 successful years, they removed Rohit as their captain and appointed Hardik Pandya, a move which eventually backfired. As a result, the team finished at the last spot in IPL 2024, with just 4 victories.
