Kamran Ghulam couldn't have asked for a better debut match to cement his authority as Pakistan's new number 4, stamped his class with a brilliant hundred in the 2nd Test Vs England in Multan. Ghulam played with grit and determination as he frustrated the English bowlers.

The wicket was slightly trickier than the first Test, as England spinner Jack Leach spun his magic and picked up 2 wickets in the first session. Thereafter, Ghulam, alongside Saim Ayub forged a crucial partnership as the duo took Pakistan out of a precarious situation.

While Ayub was dismissed for a well-compiled 77, Ghulam went onto score his maiden Test century and was eventually knocked over for a sensational 118 of 224 balls as Pakistan ended Day 1 on 259/5.

After Ghulam's calm and composed innings, fans couldn't control their emotions, and while some praised the debutant for his knock, the others took a dig at former number 4 batter, Babar Azam, who was replaced in the side by Ghulam.

Babar Azam dropped for the remainder of England series

The year 2024 has not been kind to former Pakistan captain, Babar Azam. He has failed to score a single fifty-plus score since December 2022, and couldn't perform at his best on the Australia tour, Down Under.

A lot was expected of him during the Bangladesh series, but he once again crumbled and could only score 64 runs in 4 innings as Pakistan lost the series. Again, in the first Test Vs England in Multan, Babar failed to deliver on a flat track, and the newly formed selection panel took a harsh call by dropping him for remainder of the series.
