Pat Cummins will likely miss Australia's two-match Test tour of Sri Lanka, which will be held in late January or early February next year. The Australian captain is expecting the birth of his second child with wife Becky around the same time frame.

The series against Sri Lanka will serve Australia's final set of fixtures before next year's 2023-25 WTC final. Cummins and his troops are currently bracing up to host Pakistan for a series of white-ball fixtures and India for the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home.

Pat Cummins to miss SL series to be with wife

While speaking with smh.com.au, Pat Cummins claimed that he will likely miss Australia's two-match Test tour of Sri Lanka next year to be with his family for the birth of his second child with wife Becky. The cricketer revealed that he had already missed a "big chunk" of his son Albie's early days when he was born in late 2021.

Cummins stated that he wants to spend more time at home this time around, at least during the initial period of his child's birth. The 31-year-old cricketer further revealed that Australia's cricketing culture is "pretty open" when it comes to family, and no one "bats an eyelid" whenever an individual puts his family before cricket.

Pat Cummins is not the only Australian cricketer who is going to take paternity leave in the foreseeable future. His teammates Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh will be taking a leave from Australia's upcoming white-ball fixtures against Pakistan at home.

The Australian cricket team will host Pakistan for three ODIs and three T20I matches between November 4 and November 18. The series serves as a precursor to Australia’s five-match blockbuster Border-Gavaskar Trophy assignment against India.
