Ben Stokes and England gave a huge liefline to Pakistan batter, Mohammad Rizwan, as they failed to spot an edge and didn't take the DRS. Rizwan was looking a bit jittery and England allowed him to get away as Stokes didn't bother to go upstairs.

It all happened during the 69th over of the match bowled by Matthew Potts. The English bowler delivered a length ball on the off-stump region and it nipped away slightly to take the outside-edge. Despite the noise, keeper Jamie Smith, and captain Ben Stokes failed to spot an edge as they decided against the review.

This allowed Rizwan to get a second life and he added a few more runs as Pakistan ended Day 1 on 259/5, courtesy of a sublime century from debutant Kamran Ghulam, who replaced Babar Azam in the Pakistan team.

An even day of Test cricket dominated by debutant

The second Test match also played in Multan provided a slightly better contest between bat and ball. England dominated the early proceedings as Jack Leach picked up 2 wickets before lunch to send Pakistan on back-foot.

However, Saim Ayub and Kamran Ghulam stitched a valuable partnership and bailed the side out of a tricky situation. Ayub missed out on a golden chance to slam a hundred and vice-captain, Saud Shakeel failed once again as England had a mini comeback.

However, the partnership between Ghulam and Rizwan has tilted the odds slightly in favour of Pakistan, but England won't be too disappointed with how things panned out.
