IPL 2025 Mega-Auction To Take Place In Riyadh On November 24, 25: Reports

In a significant development around IPL 2025, there are reports that the much-awaited mega-auction will take place on November 24 and 25 in Riyadh.
Earlier, there were reports that the BCCI has shortlisted Singapore for the mega-auction, but the latest report from Sportstar reported that the apex cricket board of India will head to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia for the two-day event.
It is worth noting that there was another report from Times of India that mentioned the auction could take place in Dubai on November 30. However, the Roger Binny-led board is yet to officially announce the dates for mega-auction.
Why Did BCCI Ditch Dubai For Saudi Arabia?
The Sportstar report revealed that the BCCI did not want Dubai as an option because they held the auction last year at the Coca Cola Venue in Dubai. Further, to tap new markets and for the growth of the sport, BCCI identified middle-east as an option.
Initially, the BCCI thought of London as an option but dropped the idea because of the cold conditions there. The board had difficulties finding hotels in Saudi Arabia and the stay there is also expensive compared to Dubai.
Franchises Eagerly Await Venue For IPL 2025 Mega-Auction
Although, the venue is still not finalised and the board is in final stages of preparations for IPL 2025 mega-auction. Meanwhile, the franchises remain uninformed and speaking to Cricinfo, few insiders expressed their eagerness for the board to inform them about the venue to start the visa application process.
Talking about IPL 2025, the teams are busy preparing the retention list as reportedly, the last date to submit the list is October 31.
