The preparations for IPL 2025 are in full swing. All ten franchises are busy finalising their retention list as reportedly the last date to submit this list is October 31. In a significant development, Indian Express provided an update on players likely to be retained by Lucknow Super Giants.

According to the report, it mentioned that LSG have not taken a call on skipper KL Rahul's retention despite KL and LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka meeting each other at the latter's residence a few months ago.

It is worth noting that after LSG's embarrassing 10-wicket defeat against SRH in IPL 2024, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka publically scolded Rahul that did not go well. Following that incident, there were rumours that Rahul would leave the club. In fact, after the two met each other, Goenka did not hint at retaining KL Rahul for another season.

LSG Keen On Pooran Alongside Mohsin Khan And Ayush Badoni

While a call on KL Rahul is yet to be taken, the report did not mention anything about Mayank Yadav, who recently became a capped player after making India debut against Bangladesh in the recently concluded T20I series.

The report also stated that in a surprise move, Super Giants are looking to retain two uncapped players - Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badani. Badoni, who was scouted under Gambhir's tenure at LSG, shone at the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League. Notably, he scored 522 runs in just nine matches in DPL, averaging 58. Meanwhile, Mohsin has been a key figure in the bowling department for Lucknow in the last few seasons.

Lucknow are also keen on having Nicholas Pooran, who is touted to be the top-most retention. It is worth noting that Pooran is the leading run-getter in 2024 across T20 competitions and has amassed 2251 runs in 68 innings.
