Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was recently dropped from Pakistan's Test squad owing to his poor run with the bat. Notably, in the last 18 innings, Azam has failed to score a solitary fifty.

Following Babar's ouster, several cricket pundits criticised the move and even compared it with Virat Kohli's slump. Notably, Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman recently slammed the management and posted a tweet where he stated that India backed Virat during his slump with the bat from 2019-2022.

R Ashwin Speaks Highly Of Virat Kohli

Talking about Virat, the former India skipper is also going through a bad patch with the bat in Test cricket, but continues to be a key part of India's red-ball set-up.

In the latest events, R Ashwin, appearing on his YouTube channel, added his views to this debate and remarked that Babar and Virat can't be rated in the same sentence.

"Definitely, if he is given a chance, he will score runs. If there is class, I believe we should end this debate once and for all. First of all, across the border, Babar Azam and Virat Kohli shouldn't be mentioned in the same statement," said Ashwin on his YT channel.

"I am really sorry, I rate Babar Azam. He is an outstanding player, but Virat Kohli's credentials are something else. Across terrains, across times, across pressure situations, the kind of heists he has done, no one has come close to doing so in the world of cricket. As far as I know, at this point, if anyone comes close, it is Joe Root in Test cricket," he added.

R Ashwin Eyes To Replicate Bangladesh Performance Vs New Zealand

R Ashwin, who won the player of the series award for his heroics with the bat and ball against Bangladesh would look to replicate his performance against New Zealand.

Notably, India will host New Zealand for a three match Test series starting on October 16 at 9:30 am IST. The first match will take place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
