After rain spoiled the first day of the first Test between India and New Zealand, the much-awaited game got underway on day 2, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Rohit Sharma won the toss, and the hosts elected to bat first.

On the 3rd ball of the 7th over, Rohit stepped down the track to cut the swing but failed so as the ball nipped back in, and sneaked under the huge gap between bat and pad and rattled the middle and leg-stumps.

It is worth noting that the hitman had a great start to the year as he smashed centuries against England at home but he failed with the bat against Bangladesh. Further, it was Rohit's 10th single-digit score this year, the most by any Indian batter.

At the time of writing this article, India have put 13/3 on the board after 8.1 overs. Interestingly, Virat Kohli walked to bat at No.3, because Shubman Gill is unavailable due to a stiff neck. The Indian batters are facing trouble against the swing. However, the move backfired as Virat departed for a duck.

Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan too failed to get off the mark and returned to the pavilion for a duck.
