Tonight, India will take on Australia in their final group-stage encounter of the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India Women had a disastrous start to the competition, losing their tournament opener against New Zealand Women by 58 runs.

However, they managed to punch above their weight and make a fantastic comeback, swatting aside Pakistan and Sri Lanka Women in their subsequent encounters. But, despite the Indian players riding high on confidence, their clash against the mighty Aussies is a different challenge altogether, considering the latter's formidable squad and red-hot recent form.

It's a well-known fact that Australia have a super team and are the title contenders for this year's World Cup edition. Although skipper Alyssa Healy has picked up an injury, Australia still have a robust side that can steamroll the Indian team.

Can India Enter The Semis If Australia Win Tonight?

But even if they lose tonight, India Women will still have a chance to qualify for the next round. For that to happen, India would like Pakistan to defeat New Zealand tomorrow, although the possibility of such an upset is slim.

Mathematically, India would want Pakistan to defeat New Zealand by less than 58 runs if they incur a loss tonight against the Aussies. If this happens, India will enter the semifinal courtesy of a better Net Run Rate (NRR) than Pakistan and the White Ferns.

On the contrary, if India Women manage to beat Australia by one run, they will need New Zealand to record a win over Pakistan, at least by 18 runs or with 16 balls to spare. Nevertheless, a comprehensive victory over the Aussies will keep India alive in the Women's World Cup. So, they should play out of their skins and stun Australia to strengthen their chances of a semifinal qualification.
