India's rising sensation, Harshit Rana, has to wait a bit more to see himself donning the Indian jersey as the KKR seamer will not be making his debut in the 3rd T20I against Bangladesh because of a viral infection.

There were speculations that Rana might play his first game for India as the Men in Blue have already sealed the series with two wins in the first two matches. However, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side have gone ahead with just one change, which is bringing in Ravi Bishnoi in this dead rubber match.

KKR Delighted With Harshit Rana's Uncapped Status

While Harshit Rana fans are unhappy, the news of Harshit not making his debut is a delight for KKR, as they now have the option of retaining him for just four crores. It is worth noting that had Rana made his India debut, KKR would have had to spend a minimum of 11 crores to avail his services for IPL 2025.

The last date to submit the retention list for IPL 2025 auctions is October 31, and the only series India will play before that deadline is three-match Tests against New Zealand.

How Can Harshit Still Make His India Debut?

However, it must be noted that Rana has been named as a travelling reserve in the squad for the upcoming series. In case of an injury, Rana might be drafted into the main squad, and in case he gets a chance to make his Test debut, he will be considered as a capped player.

In the ongoing series against Bangladesh, Nitish Reddy and Mayank Yadav, who were uncapped before the series, made their debut, which is why their respective franchises would need to spend a minimum of 11 crores to retain them.
