The 90th Edition of the Ranji Trophy kickstarted on Friday, October 11. Himachal Pradesh locked horns against Uttarakhand at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. The hosts entered the history books after their heroics on day 2.

Himachal Pradesh, batting first, hammered the bowlers in every corner of the park and at the time of writing this article, the Shubham Arora-led side have posted 594 runs on the board. Himachal scripted history as all top-four batters scored a century.

Skipper Arora scored 118 (178), while his opening partner Prashant Chopra returned to the pavilion with a score of 122 (2790. Ankit Kalsi, who is still batting at the crease is nearing his double century, while No.4 batter Ekant Sen too touched the triple-figure mark.

It is the second time in Ranji Trophy history that a team's top-four has scored a century. Goa had earlier etched this feat against Arunachal Pradesh in 2019. Sumiran Amonkar (160), Vaibhav Govekar (160), Smit Patel (137 not out), and Amit Verma (122 not out) scored centuries. Goa declared at 589/2.

Overall, this is only the 14th instance when the top four batters have scored centuries in a First-Class match.
