Pakistan's Biggest Critic Slams Multan Pitch Curator: 'He Doesn't Know How To Prepare A Pitch'

Former Pakistan cricketer, and their biggest critic, Basit Ali has slammed the Multan pitch curator, Tony Hemming by stating that he "doesn't know ho to prepare a pitch" ahead of the 2nd Test at the same venue.

A lot was expected of the Multan surface, but the pitch provided run-feast as almost 1500-plus runs were scored and the fans witnessed three centuries, a double ton, and a triple century in the same match. Pakistan posted in excess of 550 in their first innings, and in reply, England slammed a mammoth 823/7.

However, Pakistan crumbled under pressure in their second innings and lost the match by an innings and 47 runs. Interestingly, they became the first team to lose a match after scoring in excess of 550-runs in the first innings.

Tony Hemming is an experienced curator from Australia and it was expected that he'll prepare a sporting wicket for the first Test. However, there was nothing for the bowlers, as they toiled hard and it eventually became a graveyard for them.

Basit Ali claimed that despite his experience, Hemming had no idea about how to prepare a wicket and cited India's example while slamming the Aussie curator.

"We thought in the first Test match that the ball would spin on the second day. But it didn't happen even on the fifth day. The curator is from Australia, and he has been a part of the ICC as well. But he doesn't know how to prepare a pitch," Basit said on his YouTube channel.

"Now players will play on the same pitch, hoping that the ball will spin. What is the point of appointing a curator who doesn't know how to make a pitch? It is a very important question. The whole world is making fun of us. Look at India. The pitch is prepared the way they want to," he added.

The curator once again raised an eyebrow as the Pakistan Vs England 2nd Test at the same venue Multan will be played on the same strip used for the first game. Pakistan expects the surface to open up, meaning the cracks will help in uneven bounce and spinners will come into play.

As a result, Pakistan are fielding a spin-heavy side for the 2nd Test hoping that their bowlers can utilise the conditions against England, who are not that great players of spin-bowling.
