New Zealand's Test captain Tom Latham has revealed that the team will play aggressive cricket on their upcoming India tour. Led by Latham, New Zealand will face the hosts in a three-match Test series, with the first game scheduled at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

As the BlackCaps departed for India, skipper Tom Latham stated that they would focus on playing positive cricket and putting India under the pump. The gritty southpaw, who recently took over Test captaincy following Tim Southee's resignation, said that the visitors would try their best to dominate the home team rather than waiting for things to happen.

"It’s an exciting challenge going over to India and once we go over there, hopefully play with a bit of freedom, bit of no fear and try and take them on. If we do that hopefully, it gives ourselves a good chance," Latham said.

Tom Latham also highlighted how other teams have benefitted from an attacking style of play, which he considers the key to success on Indian soil.

"In India we’ve seen teams that have done well out there in the past have been quite aggressive towards them, especially with the bat they’ve looked to play a few shots, but also put them under pressure. Rather than sitting and waiting for something to happen,” Latham added.

New Zealand Likely To Miss Kane Williamson In 1st Test

Meanwhile, New Zealand have suffered a massive setback ahead of their India tour, with ace batter Kane Williamson being doubtful for the Bengaluru Test. The talismanic cricketer's departure to India has been delayed, as he has yet to recover from a groin strain he sustained during the Sri Lanka tour. If he misses out, New Zealand's batting will revolve around Latham, with Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips assisting the captain.
