Australian star batter Travis Head has spoken highly of Indian captain Rohit Sharma, calling him an inspiration. In a recent chat with Star Sports, Head admitted that although he hasn’t spent much time with Rohit personally, he has learned a lot by simply watching him play.

The rivalry between Head and Rohit ignited during the 2023 ODI World Cup when Australia beat India in the final. Travis played a crucial role by hitting a century that shattered Sharma’s dream of leading India to glory.

However, the rivalry is apparently only limited to fans as the two cricketers share the utmost respect for each other. Recently, Head opened up on how he considers Rohit as his role model.

Travis Head Heaps Praise On Rohit Sharma

Travis Head, who is also an opening batter like Rohit Sharma, said he enjoys watching Rohit’s fearless and aggressive approach at the top of the order. He said that Rohit has been setting the tone from the front for the last few years, and his attitude has spurred many others to approach the game with a positive frame of mind.

"I think learned from or inspired by watching would be Rohit. I haven't haven't spent like any time with him really but just by the way, he is, his actions and the way he has played, led over couple of years - I think as another opening batter - he has taken the game on, inspired few guys - led from front and has been extremely aggressive so it's something that I have really enjoyed watching," Head told Star Sports.

Rohit Sharma has been among the greatest openers globally, who were famous for being calm off the field and aggressive on the field. His leadership, especially during big tournaments, has also been praised by many former players and current stars.

Even though they don’t play together, Rohit’s influence clearly goes beyond just Team India.

Rohit Honoured With His Own Stand At Wankhede Stadium

India’s current captain, Rohit Sharma, has received a grand tribute from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), and a stand at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium will now bear his name. The announcement was made official, when MCA posted the update on their social media handle, confirming that Rohit will have a stand named after him. The Divecha Level Pavilion 3 at Wankhede will now be known as the Rohit Sharma Stand.
