In a thrilling contest, DC beat RR in the first super-over of IPL 2025. In the first inning, Delhi posted a total of 188 runs on the board owing to Porelโ€™s 49 runs inning. However, in reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana slammed a fifty each but fell short of 1 run as the game got tied. In the super over, Delhi chased down 12 runs to seal a nerve-wracking win.

Hereโ€™s how DC vs RR panned out in Delhi:

Abhishek Porel Shines After Karun Nairโ€™s Run-Out

Delhi Capitals batted first but lost opener Jake Fraser-McGurk to Jofra Archer. He went to clear infield with a big shot but holed out to Yashasvi Jaiswal at mid-off, walking back on 9 off 6. Karun Nair, who scored 89 in the last game, was dismissed on a duck.

Abhishek Porel called for a run but sent Nair back at the last moment. The batter was running halfway and was caught short of the crease when Sandeep Sharma hit the bails.

While DC were 34/2, Porel salvaged the damage. He hit Tushar Deshpande for 23 runs in the 2nd over and went on to score 49 off 37 balls. His knock helped DC cross 100 runs in 13 overs.

Middle-Orderโ€™s Contribution Guides DC To 188

Delhiโ€™s middle order put in a collective effort. KL Rahul, Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel scored 38, 34 and 34 respectively. Their timely contributions helped the Capitals put a competitive total of 188 runs on the board. Sandeep Sharma bowled an eventful 20th over, giving away 19 runs, including 4 wides and a no-ball.

Meanwhile, for RR, Maheesh Theekshana was once again expensive, conceding 40 runs. Deshpande also conceded 38 runs in 3 overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal-Sanju Samson Get RR Off To Good Start

Rajasthan Royalsโ€™ opening pair Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson got a strong 50-run partnership. While the skipper was batting well at 31 off 19, Vipraj Nigamโ€™s delivery hit him on a rib and he had to retire hurt himself.

Riyan Parag failed to make an impact, walking back on 8 for 11 but Jaiswal continued his onslaught from one end, scoring a blistering half-century. At 51 off 37, Kuldeep Yadav got his breakthrough to send Jaiswal back in the hut with RR still needing over 70 runs to win.

Royals Choke As Game Pushed To Super Over

After Jaiswalโ€™s dismissal, Nitish Rana took charge of the Royalsโ€™ chase. He attacked DC captain Axar Patel to hit him for 16 runs in the 15th over. Rana quickly collected 50 runs in 26 balls but a sharp yorker from Mitchell Starc sent him packing in the 18th over.

The game went down to the wire and Mohit Sharma conceded 14 runs in the penultimate over, including 2 sixes from Dhruv Jurel. With 9 needed to win off the last 6 balls, Hetmyer and Jurel showed maturity with swift running between the wickets but the game got tied, triggering a super over.

Stubbs-Rahul Get DC Through The Line In Thrilling Super Over

In the super over, Mitchell Starc had the ball and Hetmyer and Parag came out to bat for RR. While the former hit 2 fours, Parag and Jaiswal got run out and the Royals managed to put only 11 runs on board. To chase down 12 runs, KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs came out and KL got the momentum with a boundary. Stubbs hit the inning runs, slamming a six on the 4th ball to seal a thrilling win for Delhi Capitals.
