In a significant development, Delhi Capitals’ bowling coach Munaf Patel has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.

“Munaf Patel admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 – which pertains to the conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game – and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction," the BCCI said in a statement on Thursday afternoon.
He admitted to Level 1 offence under Article 2.20, which pertains to “conduct contrary to the spirit of the game”, and accepted the sanction imposed by the Match Referee. As per IPL regulations, the decision of the Match Referee is final and binding for Level 1 breaches.
The former Indian pacer, who was appointed as DC’s bowling coach last November replacing James Hopes.
It is important to note that the exact reason of offence was not mentioned but it is likely that he was penalised for his argument with a match official after he was not allowed to send a player into the ground to convey his message.

DC bowlers showcased exceptional performance in a thrilling contest and won the match in the Super Over. After setting a target of 188, Delhi restricted Rajasthan Royals to the same score in their 20 overs.
In the Super Over, pace ace Mitchell Starc kept his composure to concede just 11 runs, which DC successfully chased down with two balls to spare. The win solidified DC’s impressive form in IPL 2025, with the Axar Patel-led side now sitting atop the 10-team points table with five wins from six matches.
