Former Pakistan captain, Younis Khan has taken an indirect jibe at current Pakistan Test skipper, Shan Masood after his side's shambolic loss in Multan Test. Pakistan had a dreadful performance and the team lost under pressure, even after scoring 550-plus runs in first innings.

Pakistan suffered shambolic loss under Masood

Pakistan became the first team to lose a Test match after posting more than 550-runs in the first innings, as they conceded 823 runs Vs England, with Joe Root and Harry Brook firing all guns blazing.

Root and Brook stitched a partnership of more than 400-runs as the Pakistan bowlers looks helpless. While Root went onto score a sizzling double century, the star of the show was Harry Brook, who became the sixth English batter to notch up a triple ton in Test cricket.

In reply, the Pakistan batters were humiliated in their second innings, as the hosts got bundled out for a mere 220, thus losing the match by an innings and 47 runs. Shan Masood's captaincy came in question after the embarrassing defeat, with some even suggesting to remove him from the captaincy post.

Younis Khan at an event in Pakistan, slammed Masood's captaincy without taking his name. He urged PCB to take strict actions before it gets too late.

“There are no qualities to lead a team in an individual, neither he is a leader material… still he has been given the responsibilities,” Khan took an indirect jibe at Shan Masood.

“Just because the people feel that ye hmari sunta hai, achha padha likha hai, ye English, Urdu, Pashto achhi bolta hai to isko kaptaan bana do (He may not be a good player but if he listens to us, and speaks good English, Urdu and Pashto… so let’s make him the captain). Please, get rid of this thinking,” he added.

Pakistan take strict actions, drop Babar, Shaheen for remainder of England Tests

The newly formed PCB selection panel took a bold decision and dropped Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah for the second and third Tests. They gave a signal to the entire Pakistan squad, stating that performances will be given more weightage instead of big names.

The trio have been woeful in red-ball cricket as of late and PCB have given youngsters a chance to prove their worth in the remaining two Tests. Pakistan trail 1-0 in the series, and will have to come back from behind to win the series.
