Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dropped a bombshell on Sunday with their squad announcement for the final two Tests Vs England. They have dropped almost all the experienced players from the side, including Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi.

Shaheen's exclusion doesn't come as a shocker, since he has been poor in red-ball cricket and looks a pale shadow of himself. The left-arm pacer suffered a serious knee injury in 2022, and since his return has produced average numbers in Test cricket, and has also witnessed his pace getting dropped.

This isn't the first time Shaheen has faced the wrath of the selectors this year. In August, Shaheen was dropped from the second Test match Vs Bangladesh after a dismal showing in the first game of the series. With the exclusion of senior players, PCB have given clear signal that they prefer performance over big names in Test team.

As per reports, the new PCB selection committee are looking for a change in red-ball cricket, and have already moved on from Shaheen Afridi. They are looking at younger options, and also keeping tabs on players who are not injury prone.

Pakistan squad announced, Naseem Shah also faces wrath of selectors

Not only Babar and Shaheen, but pace bowler, Naseem Shah also faced the wrath of the selectors. Another promising Pakistan pace bowler, who was touted for greatness, has been dropped from the side as PCB look top rejig the Test side.

He is known for prolong injuries, and it has hampered his international career. In the last Test series against Bangladesh, Naseem took 3 wickets, and in the Multan Test Vs England, he wasn't at his best, scalping just 2 wickets and giving away 157 runs.

PCB mainly want him to focus on white-ball cricket, especially with the Champions Trophy coming up.
