Sanju Samson is one of the highly-rated cricketers in Indian cricket, but somehow has never been able to cement his place his place in the Indian side. However, in the third T20I against Bangladesh, he unleashed all his talent and hammered 111 off just 47 balls. The knock is expected to turn the tables for Samson and a visibly delighted Kerala cricketer revealed some interesting details after the match in his interview with JioCinema.

Sanju Samson mentioned that the Suryakumar Yadav, Gautam Gambhir and Abhishek Nayar told him three weeks before the Bangladesh series that he would open the innings. He added that the clear message before the series gave him time to prepare for the opening position and he went to RR academy for honing his skills. He stated that he faced lot of new balls there and it helped him in the series.

"3 weeks before this series, I was very fortunate to get a message from the leadership group - Surya, Gauti Bhai & Abhishek told me 'you will be opening' - that give me proper preparation - I went to RR academy, facing lots of new balls - that helped me".

Sanju Samson Delivers As Opener

Interestingly, Sanju Samson's previous highest score of 77 in T20Is also came as an opener against Ireland. He did not get big scores in the initial two matches but displayed good form and finally in the third T20I, came up with his best knock in T20Is. It is the highest-ever score by an Indian wicketkeeper in T20Is and Sanju Samson would be hoping that he goes from strength to strength in international cricket after Hyderabad Heroics. In the same interview, Sanju Samson also revealed how India changed their brand of cricket in T20Is after 2022 T20 World Cup loss and credited Rohit Sharma for the transformation.
