India's T20 World Cup Winning Bowling Coach Joins MI For IPL 2025: Reports

Paras Mhambrey, India's bowling coach from 2021 to 2024 under Rahul Dravid has joined Mumbai Indians according to a report from Times of India (TOI). Paras Mhambrey has been largely credited for India's splendid bowling performances in World Cup 2023 and T20 World Cup 2024 and after a lacklustre 2024 IPL season, MI seem to be keen to use his expertise and get the franchise back on track.

There is no official confirmation of Mhambrey's signing, but if the report from TOI is true, he would work alongside Lasith Malinga and TA Sekar who served as bowling coaches in the 2024 edition of IPL. Paras Mhambrey has earlier been associated with Mumbai Indians as assistant coach.

Paras Mhambrey has played two Tests and three ODIs for India but has excelled as coach at various levels. He has coached India's U19 as well as A team and has also been part of Bengal, Maharashtra, Baroda and Vidarbha's Ranji teams. Mhambrey's appointment would add more experience and star power to Mumbai's coaching staff that already boasts of names like Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga.

Doubt Over Mumbai Indians' Captain For IPL 2025

Mumbai Indians were at the centre of criticism in IPL 2024 after they replaced Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya. The move did not work and they ended up finishing at the bottom of the points table with just four wins from 14 matches. There is still a cloud of uncertainty over who will lead Mumbai Indians in the next season with many still hoping to see Rohit back as captain. There is also option of Suryakumar Yadav, who is now India's permanent T20I captain and has been a great servant for Mumbai Indians over the years. The five-time champions are bound to make some changes after a dismal last season and Paras Mhambrey's appointment is a step in right direction.
