Pace sensation Mayank Yadav has been in stellar form since IPL 2024 and he got his big moment on October 6, 2024, when he debuted for India in the T20I series against Bangladesh. In the third and final match of the series in Gwalior, Yadav made an immediate impact by taking a wicket with the very first ball of Bangladesh’s run chase. This feat placed him in a rare club of Indian bowlers, joining the likes of Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Opening the bowling in the absence of Arshdeep Singh, Mayank steamed in and delivered a fiery bouncer. Bangladesh opener Parvez Hossain Emon, caught off-guard by the pace and bounce, fended the ball awkwardly. The ball kissed the glove and looped gently into the hands of Riyan Parag, giving India an early breakthrough and rattling Bangladesh from the outset.

This wicket made Mayank the fourth Indian bowler to claim a wicket on his first ball in a T20I, a rare feat previously achieved by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (thrice), Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh.

Mayank didn’t stop there. He later dismissed Bangladesh veteran Mahmudullah in what turned out to be the latter’s farewell game. Mayank’s final bowling figures read 4-0-32-2, capping off a strong series with four wickets in three matches. His solid economy rate and wicket-taking ability suggest he could be a vital asset for India in future competitions. Meanwhile, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was the star of the bowling attack, taking 3 wickets and becoming the youngest Indian to reach 50 T20I wickets.

India whitewash Bangladesh with 133-run victory

India’s victory in the final T20I was built on a record-breaking batting performance. Sanju Samson dazzled with a blistering 111 off 47 balls, becoming the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a T20I century. Suryakumar Yadav added 75 off 35, while Hardik Pandya and Riyan Parag contributed quick-fire cameos, propelling India to a mammoth total of 297/5.

Bangladesh, in response, crumbled to 164, handing India a dominant 133-run victory and a 3-0 series sweep. With both the Test and T20I series won comprehensively, India now shifts focus to the upcoming Test series against New Zealand, beginning on October 16 in Bangalore.
