Whenever India and Australia clash, it’s a spectacle. But in Test cricket, the thrill hits a whole new level. Depending on this unreal excitement, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy creates a different hype in the cricket world.

The latest Border-Gavaskar Trophy served up more than just cricketing brilliance as some verbal spats added extra spice to the rivalry. One such moment came when Yashasvi Jaiswal’s ‘slow’ remark to Aussie legend Mitchell Starc sparked a heated showdown.

When Yashasvi Teases On Starc’s Speed

In the cricket world, few batters dare to challenge Mitchell Starc’s fiery pace. Known for his thunderbolt Yorkers and sheer dominance, Starc often leaves opponents rattled. But in the recently ended Border-Gavaskar Trophy, young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal flipped the book, questioning the Aussie star over one of his best weapons, speed.

It may seem unbelievable, but Jaiswal delivered this cheeky dig to Starc as effortlessly as he hit a sweep shot with brilliance. On the second day of the Perth Test, when India was batting in the second innings, a dramatic moment unfolded in the 19th over.

As Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul were driving India’s innings on the fifth gear, Cummins sent one of his best bowlers, Starc, on the attack. But Jaiswal tackled him probably in the best possible way. After scoring 7 runs in the first three balls, Jaiswal rattled a bit but still didn’t lose the chance to sledge the Aussie star.

He said, “It’s coming too slow!”. As the stump mic caught the remark, it went viral within no time. On the same day when Australia was batting in their first innings, Starc sledged Harshit Rana regarding his speed. But when the tables turned, Jaiswal seized the moment and served the perfect comeback, leaving fans and Starc equally stunned.

Jaiswal Turns First Innings Disappointment Into Historic Moment

As the first Test match of the last edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy took place in Perth, the beginning was not in India’s favor, but the tables turned in the second innings. With 46-run lead, the visitors bounced back strong, and leading the charge was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who turned the tide with a sensational knock.

After being dismissed on a duck in the first innings, Jaiswal roared back in the second innings. While opening the innings, he crafted a well-deserved half-century and soon turned into a thrilling ton. But the destruction didn’t stop there as the best was yet to come.

After crossing the 150-run mark with all grace, Jaiswal played an outstanding knock of 161 runs in 297 deliveries with 15 boundaries and 3 over-boundaries. With that, he registered the highest score as an Indian opener on Aussie soil. Not only did the sensational knock define his glory, but it also helped the visitors to register a massive 295-run victory over the host.
