Dawid Malan unhappy with revised ECB central contracts

England star Dawid Malan has now shared his thoughts on the ECB central contracts.

The England Cricket Board recently announced their central contracts the Malan has been put on an incremental contract after the batter lost his spot in the England Test side following the Three Lions' 4-0 loss against Australia in the Ashes.

Prior to the announcement of the revised contracts, Malan was on a full central contract between October 2021 - September 2022.

The 35-year-old believes that the decision from ECB is 'strange' and Test cricket participation should not be the only parameter when it comes to deciding on contracts.

Malan has been a prolific player for England in the white-ball formats and he helped the Three Lions secure an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Australia yesterday.  The England star smacked a 49-ball 82 to propel the Three Lions to a score of 178 in 20 overs in the second T20I yesterday.

Meanwhile, Malan's revised incremental contract means the ECB will supplement his Yorkshire contract instead of being his principal employers.

The England star believes that this could lead to financial uncertainties for players going forward.

Speaking to ESPN, he said: "There's obviously a slightly strange system with the contracting system.

"It seems heavily led towards red-ball cricket when you have players that play one or two formats of the white-ball game. They are decisions that I don't make but ultimately, it puts you in tough situations if you're not contracted and you're losing finances playing in tournaments in the winter."

Malan will now look to make his mark for his country in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
