The second Test between Pakistan and England at the Multan Cricket Stadium got off to a challenging start for the home side. After winning the toss, Pakistan’s Test captain Shan Masood hoped for a better performance to change their fortunes following their loss in the first Test. Unfortunately, things quickly took a turn for the worse.

England Start Strong With Jack Leach

England came into this game full of confidence, riding on their previous Test win. They wasted no time applying pressure on Pakistan, with Jack Leach leading the charge. The left-arm spinner drew first blood by dismissing Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique for just 7 runs. Shafique was bowled by a sharp delivery, giving England an early breakthrough.

Shan Masood, who stepped in with the intention of stabilizing the innings, couldn’t make the impact Pakistan desperately needed. In the 10th over of the innings, Jack Leach struck again. This time, it was a full-length delivery outside the off-stump that slightly turned in. Masood tried to flick the ball but ended up hitting it towards short mid-wicket, where Zak Crawley made a low, tumbling catch just inches above the ground.

Masood began his walk back to the pavilion as England celebrated, confident the ball had carried cleanly to Crawley. The replays confirmed the catch was taken comfortably. Shan Masood's innings ended with a score of just 3 runs off 7 balls, dealing a significant blow to Pakistan early in the match.

At the time of writing, Pakistan are struggling at 23 for 2 after 11 overs, with Kamran Ghulam and Saim Ayub at the crease.
