Rishabh Pant is a special talent and there is hardly anyone who can doubt that. He has dominated Test arena in his brief career so far and after a hiccup due to an accident, he is now back at his best. He scored a century against Bangladesh in his comeback Test and now has smacked 99 in the second innings of the Bengaluru Test against New Zealand.

He hit nine fours and five sixes in his knock and one of those hit went out of the ground against Tim Southee. It was a 107-metre hit and he treated Tim Southee as a spinner by hitting a slog-sweep over deep mid-wicket with disdain. It was the third delivery of the 87th over and Southee bowled it full and angled it into Pant from 'round the wicket. Pant though went on his knee and slammed the ball over deep mid-wicket and out of the ground.

Sarfaraz Khan's Wicket Trigger Collapse

Rishabh Pant was in belligerent mood throughout his knock and looked set for another hundred. However, William O'Rourke got the better of him as Pant dragged a shortish delivery back onto his stumps. Before Pant, Sarfaraz Khan fell on 150 after playing a glorious knock under pressure and it triggered a mini-collapse as India lost their way from 408-3 to 438-6. KL Rahul failed to continue the momentum gained by the partnership of Pant and Sarfaraz, and now India have a lead of just 82 with four wickets in hand.
